Final Major Update of Bardic: Quest for Love
Major Features:
Exploration and Tavern Management Sim are IMPLELEMNTED and DONE!!!
BUG FIXES and TWEAKs
[X] Action points vanish when simply clicking on a character (not dragging). Clicking on a character brings up their skills menu, but an action point is lost in the process.
[X] If you begin to drag a character elsewhere, then change your mind and place them back where they started, an action point is lost.
[X] If you drag a character onto an illegitimate part of the screen, such as a table, character snaps back to original location and an action point is lost.
[X] Action points are not even mentioned in the tutorial, much less explained.
[X] Sometimes one of the employee characters will levitate into the air when the "customers approach" screen pops up.
[X] The "Cost" listing in the skill menu is vague: does it cost SP or energy? 8b. Or... both? I saw Rile Up Crowd consume 4 points of both types, but the skill description makes no mention of this.
[X] Hector was unable to use Showboat when he had 2 energy and 4 SP.
[X] When Abigail casts Bandage, a screen pops up with four arrows pointing to four characters telling me to select a target. I have tried clicking the arrows as well as clicking the characters and nothing works. Bug appeared on multiple different rounds.
[X] When you click on character, you no longer can open the Action HUD. Instead, the SkillToggle (Exclamation mark) will be the only way to open the HUD. The size is also bigger
Note from Dev Busy Bee:
Hello @everyone .
I think we're done with Bardic: Quest for Love. Production is over for the most part, and I think we'll be putting a cap on updates for now.
Congratulations everyone who's help us get here, and I genuinely thank you all! That being said, I hope we all grew from this project, I know I have some learning to do as well.
Here are some things I've learned.
- Don't hire so many people.
- Have their salary saved up for 4 months.
- Have a solid roadmap (with some slack), Lots of slack early,
- Avoid Development Hell (Adding features after production starts)
- When a team agrees on a set of work, stick with it and don't change the workload
- Focus on prototyping features early. Do not add later.
- Do not set a date when the game releases publicly
- Don't undervalue your employee or contractor
- Don't be a bully or do bully like behavior
- Have the group communicate better
- Leadership should have absolute communication to Creative Director.
- Expect hard times.
- Don't promise things
- Be careful with contracts
Regardless, thank you so much for your time, and I think if ever, we will revisit the Bardic universe next year...
Stay tuned for that! :D
But anyways,
From all of us here at Breadwork Games,
We thank you for your help making Bardic: Quest for Love a reality. <3
